Inyanga is sung in both isiZulu and Afrikaans. Both isiZulu and Afrikaans are two of the 11 official languages spoken in South Africa. isiZulu is a Nguni Language spoken in Southern Africa. Afrikaans is a West Germanic language spoken in South Africa, Namibia and, to a lesser extent, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Inyanga is a choral fusion work, combining the two languages of isiZulu and Afrikaans. The text, written by the composer, is based on the isiZulu myth; telling the tale of the birth of the moon. Originally commissioned by the Kittwiger Kamerchor, German.
