Elke outjie het sy liedjie is sung in Afrikaans. Afrikaans is one of the 11 official languages spoken in South Africa. Afrikaans is a West Germanic language spoken in South Africa, Namibia and, to a lesser extent, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. It evolved from the Dutch vernacular of Holland.
This work is a movement from the larger choral work for children’s chorus and ensemble; titled “Jy moet sing soos jy gebek is”. This work is written for three-part treble chorus, accompanied by a percussion ensemble, marimba and piano. The text is by the famous South African poet, Phillip de Vos, who has gained great acclaim for his fun-filled children’s texts.
